Our Pledge to You.

A message from the President & CEO

Dean Teague, FACHE

On behalf of the entire team at CalvertHealth, we'd like to take a moment to thank you for your loyalty and support of our organization and our healthcare workers.

The past several months have been unlike anything we've ever experienced, and through it all, we’ve been working hard to fulfill our mission of providing safe, high-quality health care and promoting wellness for a healthy community.

When you choose CalvertHealth for your healthcare needs, know this: Our top priority will always be to deliver safe, high-quality care. Every decision we make, every protocol or procedure we put in place is with the health and safety of our community in mind.

As elective procedures and other outpatient services resume, we want you to feel safe and comfortable when you, or a family member, place your trust in us to meet your healthcare needs.

We are taking every possible precaution to protect you and our healthcare workers. We value the trust you’ve placed in us and that’s why we pledge to you, our patients, our community, to continue earning your trust each day. Here are just a few of the things we’re doing to protect your health and deliver high-quality care:

  • Following all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance and increasing our already stringent cleanliness practices, including using state-of-the-art UV technology
  • Providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to our healthcare workers and face coverings to any patients that do not have their own
  • Practicing social distancing by scheduling appointments to limit the number of patients and employees in an area and using telemedicine and other advances to provide access to care from the convenience of your home or office

Being an independent, community hospital means caring for our family and neighbors – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. As we look to the future, we accept the continued responsibility of providing safe, high-quality health care for our patients and their families.

Together, we can build a healthier tomorrow.
At CalvertHealth, we are diligently working on our plan for a phased reopening following all CDC guidelines, as well as Governor Hogan’s orders. The following clinics are open and closely following the guidelines from CDC and the state:

  • CalvertHealth Outpatient Rehabilitation (all locations)
  • Speech Therapy
  • Wound Care
  • Anti-Coagulation Clinic
  • Center for Vascular Care
  • Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation (opening June 1)

All clinics are following the same guidelines, which include:

  • Patients should wait in their vehicle until they are called to come in for their scheduled appointment
  • Patients are screened both before their appointment and onsite
  • Employees and patients are wearing masks – when possible
  • Employees are cleaning between patient visits
  • Social Distancing is enforced, unless direct care is being provided

CalvertHealth Medical Group (CHMG) practices are beginning to resume non-emergent services in accordance with self-certification criteria submitted to the state.

  • CalvertHealth Primary Care continues seeing patients through telehealth and is adding more in-office visits to meet patient needs.
  • CalvertHealth Obstetrics & Gynecology is continuing OB prenatal services and is resuming in-office gynecologic care as well as annual exams.
  • CalvertHealth Surgical practices are resuming in-office consultations for elective procedures including vascular, plastic and reconstructive, breast, as well as general surgery. Please note that you’re coming in for a procedure or surgery, you’ll be required to be tested for COVID-19 beforehand. This ensures that our surgical environments remain safe and our caregivers can confidently perform exceptional care.
  • CalvertHealth Hematology & Oncology is resuming additional services.

Please join us in remaining compliant with a few of the things we’re doing to protect your health and deliver high-quality care for your scheduled visit or elective procedure.

  • More than five years ago, CalvertHealth invested in a Surfacide ® UV-C disinfection system – an evidence-based UV-C hard surface disinfection system that eradicates multi-drug resistant organisms including C.diff, MRSA, VRE, CRE and Acinetobacter. Using multiple emitters, the system disinfects all areas of the healthcare environment in a single cycle. To learn more about the Surfacide UV-C difference, see the video below:
  • Enhancing cleaning practices with even more frequent disinfecting of common areas like waiting rooms and lobbies.
  • All surfaces are thoroughly disinfected with medical-grade cleaning agents. From doorknobs to faucets, light switches to bed controls, each touchpoint is addressed regularly to ensure your safety.
  • We verify the work of our environmental services staff to keep disinfecting standards at their highest level.

  • For their safety and yours, all CalvertHealth employees you encounter will wear masks, and may also wear face shields and other protective gear, as needed. Please know we are well-stocked with all forms of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Masks being worn at all times by staff, patients and visitors. Those who need a mask will receive one upon entry.
  • Staff wearing appropriate personal protective equipment when providing care and adhering to strict handwashing protocols.
  • Handwashing is one of the most simple and effective ways to prevent the spread of any infection. CalvertHealth caregivers wash their hands each time they interact with a new patient, and often, in between.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available and conveniently placed throughout every care facility for all to use.
  • Caregivers have their temperature taken and are screened daily for symptoms to ensure they are healthy. Anyone with signs of illness are sent home – no exceptions.

  • Maintaining strict visitor restrictions at all locations.
  • A visitor may assist you into the medical center for registration prior to your procedure and for discharge from the medical center. We ask that visitors wait in their vehicle while the procedure or scheduled visit is underway.
  • Patients and their visitor will be screened for a fever and any symptoms upon entry.
  • We ask that you and your visitor to wear a protective face covering at all times while inside the medical center or any of our other practices
  • Testing all patients for COVID-19 before any procedure or surgery.
  • Enacting social distancing measures for spaces like elevators, waiting areas, lobbies, cafeterias and more. Please note that at this time, no dining-in is permitted in The Calvert Café.
  • If you’re coming in for a procedure or surgery, you may be required to be tested for COVID-19 beforehand. This ensures that our surgical environments remain safe and our caregivers can confidently perform exceptional care.
  • When applicable, a telemedicine appointment may be offered for certain service lines or practices.
