Gifts of Gratitude

A Meaningful Way to Say Thank You.

It may have been the skilled surgeons who repaired your hernia, or the compassionate smile of a nurse during chemotherapy that made a difference. Perhaps it was the hug that eased your child’s fears, or a visit from a volunteer who treated you more like an old friend than a medical center patient. Whatever it was, here's a way to say thanks.

There are dozens of ways that members of the CalvertHealth care team make a difference in the lives of our patients. We hear about them every day through letters, phone calls and other expressions of gratitude including charitable gifts to our hospital foundation.

That is why we established the CalvertHealth Foundation Gifts of Gratitude Program which allows individuals and/or their families to formally recognize the exceptional care received at CalvertHealth. Whether you choose to salute a special doctor or nurse, an entire department or a clinical program that impacted your health or that of a loved one, your gift is a meaningful opportunity to say “thank you” and to give back to those who may have given so much to you.

At the same time, your generosity will enhance the experience of future patients by helping us purchase new technologies, modernize our facilities and introduce exciting medical advances, while maintaining CalvertHealth’s hallmark of personalized care.

If you have been touched by the CalvertHealth team, we invite you to pass the gift along with an honorary donation to our hospital.  Your contribution will pave the way for our avenues of healing and hope while benefitting others in need.

Make it Personal

The CalvertHealth Foundation’s Gifts of Gratitude Program is flexible and personal. You can designate a gift of any size to a specific area or allow us to direct your gift to funds where they are most needed.  Furthermore, you can choose to make a cash gift or contribute through alternative forms of giving such as gifts of stock or planned giving.

As part of the program, your donation may honor a caregiver at CalvertHealth Medical Center – whether it is a physician, nurse, therapist, social worker, aide, volunteer or other team member who made a special impression. You may wish to give in honor or memory of a loved one.

Gifts Of Gratitude Impacts

Your support is critical to the patients at CalvertHealth. Every dollar raised goes to support the hospital. Your gifts have supported numerous causes such as those listed below.

United We Thrive Cancer Care Campaign

Demonstrating an unprecedented commitment to advancing cancer care close to home, supporters of the recent United We Thrive Cancer Care Campaign have transformed cancer care at CalvertHealth Medical Center. Contributing more than $6.1 million, supporters have helped with to support:

  • The purchase of the medical center’s first-ever daVinci surgical robot and launched the CalvertHealth Surgical Robotics Program. Performing more than 100 surgeries in the programs first 90 days, this generous outpouring of support has already made a huge impact.
  • The purchase of new MRI technology, the first upgrade in more than 20 years. The new MRI suite will be more easily accessible to patients and will include additional screening capacity and a more patient-centered environment during screenings.
  • The establishment of a Cancer Care Endowment, ensuring a perpetual source of philanthropic support to innovate and sustain critical cancer care advancements.
  • Ongoing affiliation with the expert team of professionals at Duke Health. As a member of the Duke Cancer Network, the resources of Duke Health’s NCI-designated cancer program bring expanded services and resources to patients and CalvertHealth’s team of oncology professionals.

The Fund for CalvertHealth

Dedicated unrestricted support has provide countless opportunities to support CalvertHealth as they meet the most urgent needs, when they arise. Unrestricted funding has empowered us to support expenditures that are not budgeted while helping to move our mission forward including clinical training, capital items, resources to support special project, and clinical staff to pilot new programs.

Nurse Navigation

The nurse navigation program continues to grow as we serve the needs our oncology patients. During a patient’s cancer journey, their nurse navigator serves as the center of their care management from assisting with scheduling appointments to understanding the specifics of their diagnosis and treatment to connecting them to needed resources. Your support continues to bring the personalized and valuable services of nurse navigators to our patients including Breast Cancer, Thoracic and Financial Assistance Navigators who are actively working side by side with our patients battling cancer.

Building on a Century of Care Capital Campaign

Supporters of the Building on a Century of Care Capital Campaign helped create the largest expansion and renovation project in the hospital’s 100+-year history. The three-story expansion to the medical center’s main campus in Prince Frederick now houses spacious, modern private patient rooms, outpatient services, and functional areas for medical and support staff.

Mobile Health Center

The Mobile Health Center was graciously funded by our donors and travels to underserved areas of our community to bring essential primary care services, dental, and prevention and wellness programs to residents who do not have access to traditional health care. While the Mobile Health Center will serve the entire community, it is part of a broader effort by CalvertHealth to shift the focus from “sick care” to “health care” where the long-term strategy is to provide education, outreach, and support to help people stay healthy to reduce the onset of disease and those with chronic illnesses manage them more effectively.
