CalvertHealth Foundation Raises More than $107,000 for Advancements in Urologic Care

The CalvertHealth Foundation held its 33rd Annual Benefit Golf Classic presented by CDI, LLC and L2 Construction Management Corporation at The Cannon Club in Lothian on May 9. More than 150 people including sponsors, golfers and supporters helped make this the most successful golf classic in tournament history. Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to support the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of urologic diseases including kidney, bladder and prostate cancers.

Reflecting on the success of the day, Foundation Board of Trustee and Golf Committee Chair Frank Smith shared, “As a small business owner and resident of Calvert County, I continue to be blown away by the generosity of our local businesses community. For the second year in a row, the tournament sold out and that is a testament to both the hard work of our planning committee as well as the strong reputation of CalvertHealth.”

CalvertHealth President and CEO Dean Teague, who sponsors a foursome each year, expressed his gratitude to the golfers, sponsors and employees who contributed to the event’s success. “CalvertHealth is dedicated to advancing health care in our community and ensuring access to specialized care close to home,” said Teague. As part of the expansion of services in Calvert County, CalvertHealth also recently employed Urologist Dr. Jack Cooper.

In total, 154 golfers took to the green making up two flights. The winner of the first flight’s low gross score was Empire Graphics, Signs & Lighting and the winner of the first flight’s low net score was The Mark Frisco Team Century 21 New Millennium. The winner of the second flight’s low gross score was Copper River and the winner of the second flight’s low net score was Idea Solutions.

Since the inaugural Golf Benefit Classic in 1990, the event has raised more than $1.8 million to fund patient care equipment and vital hospital services at CalvertHealth Medical Center.

The inaugural Grapes on the Green event, running concurrent to the Benefit Golf Classic, was a huge success. Participants enjoyed golf, wine tasting, shopping and great company.
