CalvertHealth Foundation Offers Scholarships to Local Students Pursuing Higher Education in Health Fields

The CalvertHealth Foundation is offering tuition assistance to students pursuing higher education in medicine or allied health who reside in Calvert, Anne Arundel, St. Mary’s and Charles counties. Deadline for submission is April 30. Since its inception, the scholarship fund has awarded more than 425 scholarships totaling more than $540,000.

In order to be eligible for the Allied Health scholarship, applicants must be a full-time student who has been accepted at an accredited school of nursing or other allied health field.

The Foundation is also accepting applications to the E. Anne Spitzer, MD Memorial Scholarship which was established to encourage Calvert County students to seek careers in the medical field in honor of Dr. Spitzer.

“The Foundation is proud to offer assistance to students in our community who are studying to pursue careers in health care. It starts with a scholarship and it is our hope that recipients will return to CalvertHealth as healthcare professionals dedicated to providing exceptional care. Health care is a rewarding field, and there is a definite need for growth in healthcare providers,” said CalvertHealth Foundation Board Chair Lynette Entzian.

The Allied Health scholarship is open to residents of Calvert, Charles, St. Mary’s and Anne Arundel counties; applicants must have been a resident of Maryland for at least one year. The E. Anne Spitzer, MD Memorial Scholarship is open to students who graduated from a Calvert County High School and are pursuing a career in medicine. Students must be admitted to an accredited medical school at the time of application with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applications are due by April 30, 2019 for both scholarships.
