At CalvertHealth, we are committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. To support meaningful interactions between patients and providers, we may use a secure AI-assisted recording documentation tool during certain appointments.
What is this AI recording documentation tool?
CalvertHealth is piloting a secure artificial intelligence (AI) dictation tool to help providers document visits more efficiently. With your permission, the tool briefly records parts of the conversation during your appointment and turns them into a draft medical note.
Your provider reviews, edits and signs the note before it becomes part of your medical record.
Why are we using it?
Using an AI recording documentation tool which allows providers to:
- Spend more time listening and engaging with you
- Reduce time spent typing during visits
- Improve accuracy and completeness of medical notes
Our goal is to support better provider–patient interactions while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and care.
Is my information protected?
Yes. Protecting your privacy is essential.
- The AI tool follows HIPAA-compliant security and data protection standards
- Recordings are not stored long term
- Information is not used for training, research, or any other purpose
- Third parties do not have access to your conversations
Do I have to agree?
No. Participation is completely voluntary.
You may decline to be recorded and/or request that the tool be turned off at any time.
Your decision will
not affect the quality of care you receive.
You may also ask your provider to turn the tool off at any time, even after agreeing.
